What is the process to reserve our trip?
There are two ways to reserve your cruise:
Option #1: You can reserve your cruise directly through the on-line reservation system on our website. You input your credit card information into the secure encrypted server to reserve your preferred date and time, at which time only a $1.00 non-refundable booking fee will apply. We do not hold your credit card information but are provided a transaction key for the credit card on file. The full price of your cruise is due on the day of your cruise, so please bring your credit card or cash with you to your cruise.
Option #2: You can call Cats Meow Cruises at (574) 220-7007 and have us secure your reservation. This option will require that we obtain and input your credit card information into the secure encrypted server. There is a $1.00 non-refundable booking fee charged for the card verification process. We do not hold your credit card information but are provided a transaction key for the credit card on file. The full price of your cruise is due on the day of your cruise, so please bring your credit card or cash with you to your cruise.
For either of these options, a 48 hour notice is a required for cancellation of a Private or Shared Cruise, and one (1) week notice is required for cancellation of a Custom Cruise. Failure to cancel your cruise without proper notice or "No Show" for your scheduled boarding time will result in a $50 cancellation fee for a Private or Shared Cruise, or a $100 cancellation fee for a Custom Cruise.
When and how do I pay for the trip?
Payment in full is due at the end of your cruise, using cash or any major credit card (no checks please). Even though you provide a credit card number to reserve your cruise, you will still need to bring cash or your credit card for your final payment. If you are satisfied with our service, feel free to add a gratuity to your final payment.
What is the cancellation policy?
For Private or Shared Cruises, you must call us at least 48 hours prior to your time of departure to cancel or change your reservation. At that time, we can reschedule your party for a later date if you so desire. This provides us an opportunity to possibly fill your reservation with another party. Should you cancel with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged a $50.00 cancellation fee. For Custom Cruises, a one (1) week notice is required for cancellation. Failure to keep your reservation (no show) for your scheduled boarding time will result in a $50 cancellation fee for a Private or Shared Cruise or a $100 cancellation fee for a Custom Cruise.
What happens in the case of bad weather/unfavorable water conditions?
The Captains of Cat's Meow are very safety-minded and closely monitor the weather. Wind, waves and weather are not under anyone's control. Should conditions warrant it, the cruise may need to be rescheduled, cancelled or cut short (for which the rate would be adjusted accordingly). All weather related decisions are made by the captains of Cat's Meow. It would be a good idea to double check with the Captain if you have any concerns regarding the weather. We strongly advise if you are traveling from outside the area, to call the Captain prior to leaving, to check current weather and wave conditions. In the event your cruise is cancelled, there is no charge for your canceled cruise and you are not obligated to reschedule.
What should I wear?
Temperatures on the lake can be 10 - 15 degrees cooler than on land, so dress appropriately for the projected temperature on the day of your cruise. Bring additional clothes, such as a sweatshirt or jacket, to be able to add or remove layers, or a change of clothes (a private dressing area is available). Footwear should be light or white-soled shoes (non-marking shoes such as tennis shoes or boat shoes are requested) and preferably non-skid type. Life jackets are on-board, however if you prefer to bring your own - you may do so.
What should I bring and can I bring alcohol aboard?
Bring your hat, a camera, sunglasses, and possibly your favorite music to enjoy! Bring a lotion-based sunscreen only Please DO NOT bring/use oil-based sunscreen or products with self-tanners. These make the boat slippery and stain our decks, and could result in a cleaning fee if used. We suggest that you apply your lotion-based sunscreen before stepping aboard.
We will provide a cooler filled with cold bottled water and non-alcoholic drinks. If you prefer to bring other food or drinks, feel free to do so. Guests consuming alcohol MUST do so responsibly and are limited to bringing only one (1) small-sized cooler aboard (per reservation/group). We have wine glasses and a bottle opener aboard if you need them. If alcoholic beverages are brought and consumed on board, you MUST drink responsibly or the cruise can be terminated and full charge applied to the cruise. If you would like us to arrange food for your charter, we can provide catering options and pass along the additional charges to you. Please contact us at least 72 hours in advance to arrange catering.
Is smoking or are e-cigarettes allowed?
No, Cat's Meow Cruises maintains a Smoke Free, cigarette-free environment. Smoking of any type is not permitted at any time while you are aboard.
Is there an age limit for children?
Our goal is to make your trip both enjoyable and safe. Most young children are curious, can move very quickly and may have difficulty remaining still. On a boat, this presents additional safety concerns. The minimum age for children is 10 years or older. Please be aware that parents must monitor their children at all times (one adult for each child) and keep them within arm's reach. Children 12 and under must wear an approved Coast Guard life jacket whenever they are in the cockpit or on the deck. Teens may be requested to wear an approved Coast Guard life jacket on deck when underway. Life vests will be provided.
Is motion sickness an issue?
One of the major advantages of sailing on Cat's Meow is that it is very stable and sails nearly level because it is a large cruising catamaran. Generally, people do not need to take motion sickness medication. However, if you are prone to motion sickness or have any doubt, you may want to take preventive measures ahead of time (i.e. Bonine, Dramamine, etc. - we suggest the non-drowsy type). You may wish to discuss the appropriate medicine with your doctor.
